Description

Days To Maturity: 55 to 70

Heavily ribbed, light green cukes with mild, sweet taste. The fruit grows very long, and is best eaten when 12" long and less than 2 1/2" across.

High yields of unusual, mild-tasting cukes turn yellow when ripe. Great for slicing and pickling. These are also known as yard-long cucumbers or snake melon. Actually related to muskmelon, the cucumbers have a cantaloupe-like aroma when sliced. Although they grow to up to a couple feet long, they are best harvested when 12 to 18 inches long. The fruit will grow straighter if grown on a trellis; on the ground, the fruit is often crooked.

Uses

Care

Requires warm, well-drained soil high in fertility, with a pH of 6.8-7.2. Consistent, adequate irrigation is needed to produce an abundant crop. Cucumbers are very sensitive to cold. Make sure both soil and air temperatures have warmed prior to planting. Using poly mulch and row covers will greatly enhance the vigor and potential yields of cucumbers by providing warmth and insect protection.
